Speeding - You Said We Did |
||
|
Since the launch of the Let’s Talk community survey last year, the issue of speeding has continually been listed as a priority by many of you in our district. On the question of ‘What are the issues affecting you in your community which would benefit from joint working between police, partners and community members to resolve?’, more of you have continually answered ‘speeding’ than any other issue. And, on the question of ‘What would you say is the top issue that is affecting you most here?’, more of you have again answered ‘speeding’ than any other issue. Reflecting upon and responding to your concerns, the Safer Roads Unit have again been completing lots of enforcement and deterrent across our district, using both mobile and fixed cameras. In September, there were a total of 11 visits to our area, which equated to 30 hours and 50 minutes of speed checks across the district. 128 offences were recorded during those visits. In October, there were a total of 14 visits to our area, which equated to 33 hours and 35 minutes of speed checks across the district. 208 offences were recorded during those visits. The aim of the enforcement we carry out is to help support you reduce the speed of traffic, making the roads safer for all road users, and reduce the risk of injury, collisions and casualties in our area. We will continue to respond to your concerns and tackle the issues affecting you in your community, so please continue to let us know what is impacting you where you live. If you haven’t already completed a Let's Talk survey, please click below to do so. 👇 Thank you. https://survey.hampshirealert.co.uk/ *As well as much support for our important speed check and enforcement work, we also get comments from some, asking why we aren't dealing with other things as well, or instead. To those people, we'd like to stress that we do have lots of other officers, teams and departments dealing with many different reported incidents. They work tirelessly to investigate crimes, support victims, gather evidence, arrest and charge suspects, put offenders behind bars, safeguard vulnerable members of our communities, make our towns and villages a safer place for all, and much more. We'll always try to bring you news on our progress with as many of these cases as possible. Unfortunately, and for various reasons, we can't always discuss every incident our amazing teams are dealing with. Please rest assured that they speeding is not all they are tackling, though. We appreciate the vast majority of you are already aware of this, but we just wanted to clarify. Thank you. 🙂 *File Pic
